Florence

Explore the hustle and bustle of one of Italy’s most romantic cities by taking your honeymoon to Europe.

Florence may not have beaches or year round clear skies, but it does have incredible food and culture, and is well known throughout Europe as the city of love.

You can view some of the greatest masters of the Renaissance here, walk hand in hand admiring ancient architecture, indulge in authentic Italian pizza, or stay tangled between the sheets with a hotel room view that overlooks Florence’s incredible terraces rooftops.

Santorini

European cities are often discarded as honeymoon destinations, but what people forget is this Greek hidden gem.

From cobblestone streets to stark white homes with colorful blue domes, straight from the front of a postcard, any couple would have the time of their life spending their special honeymoon here.

It’s a completely walkable island, and takes roughly 30 minutes to walk from end to end. Oia is the place to be if you’re hoping to take in one of those world famous sunsets. But keep in mind that this is not exactly a secret, and tourists flood the narrow streets every night.

You may have a more private moment at sunset by booking a villa with a hot tub that overlooks the ocean.

Despite only being just over 2,000 miles from California, Hawaii really has a different way of life. From sugary white beaches to technicolor coral reefs, and a diverse range of hiking trails and volcanoes for the adventurous soul, Hawaii truly has something for everyone.

  1. Great destinations. Now, all I need is a spouse :-)

    • Glad you enjoyed the post Roy! I have no doubt you’ll bump into them soon! :)

  2. We went to Singapore and did a tour of Malaysia has changed so much that was nearly 30 years ago now

    • I love Singapore! Haven’t made it to Malaysia yet, but it’s on the list! :)

  3. Great to see a list of honeymoon destinations that doesn’t include Paris! Well done just for that.

Planning our honeymoon was by far the greatest aspect of getting married. In fact, I think I may have annoyed my now wife by completely disregarding the big day itself in place of constant travel ideas.

In the end we spent 2 weeks disco ring southern Italy and eating as much amazing fresh produce as possible.

Slightly cliched but Puglia in particular was devoid of tourist hordes even in August!

    Great list.

    • Thanks Tommo! Paris is incredibly overrated in my humble opinion!! And surely your wife wouldn’t have been annoyed that you were throwing all of your energy into making the most important part of the wedding celebrations count :D! After-all the wedding is just the formality – it’s the honeymoon where you’re marriage really starts!!

Southern Italy sounds spectacular – maybe you can start planning for a second honeymoon at one of the above destinations someday soon ?

      All the best!

  4. So many amazing honeymoon destinations, and not enough time (or potential husbands) to visit them all! ?

    • Bahaha potential husbands – love it :D You can definitely take multiple honeymoons with the one husband, why not right! Second , third and fourth honyemoons (etc) are definitely a thing … or maybe head to these amazing locations to renew your vows. Santorini would be an amazing place for that!

  5. All of these sound amazing, but if I could only pick one I think I’d go with Santorini. Greece is #Lifegoals.

    • Santorini is definitely one of my favorites. Definitely can’t go wrong with that choice for a honeymoon!

  6. I read an article this week about a couple who went on their honeymoon in 2013 or something like that and they’re still on their honeymoon. They kept traveling, and haven’t made it home yet!

    • Anne and Mike from HoneyTrek? They’re such a great couple, I love following their blog!

  7. One place we have been really wanted to go is Las Vegas, and staying in the penthouse suite on the honeymoon would just top it all off.

    • A really affordable honeymoon too, you can get amazing penthouse suites in Vegas for around $300, just because the competition for hotels is fierce here.

      Have an amazing honeymoon!

  8. Australia is one of the best honeymoon destinations.Great ocean road is famous in Australia and around the world as one of the best road trips on the planet. Hire a car from Avis for the best services and they are having their car rentals at many locations. Take a self-drive on the spectacular Great Ocean Road, which winds alongside the wild and windswept Southern Ocean covers an incredible range of scenery.

    • Thanks for your input Vishal, I totally agree that Australia is a great spot, the Great Ocean Road particularily. We’re heading back for a return road trip of this region next month actually, really looking forward to it!

  9. “Absolutely, You have listed perfect places for new couples to roam around. Megan, Let me suggest you another one which comprises scenic beauty of nature with glistening backwaters, “”KERALA””.
It is highly opted by people who love to go for adventurous trekking and to drive thru chilling hill stations. You can feel soothing wind breeze hitting your skin. It is considered to be the house of ayurveda, you can take houseboatings, much more can be listed.
So, why can’t you try it once, my friend!”

    • So glad you enjoyed the post Sarah, and thanks for the suggestion of Kerala. India is definitely on my list, and hopefully when we have the chance to travel we’ll be able to include Kerala – it sounds like an incredible destination!

      Thanks for sharing :)
