How to Beat Boredom When Traveling

How can anyone be bored when traveling around the world? Well, obviously you have a ton of fun once you arrive at your destination, but there’s nothing all that entertaining about waiting in an airport or being stuck on a plane with no in flight movie.

If you have a partner to travel with, then alleviating the inevitable boredom of waiting for your gate to open isn’t such a challenge. However, when traveling alone it becomes essential to find something you can entertain yourself with.

Whether you are a hardcore fan of addicting apps for your smartphone or prefer something a little more constructive, there are a number of ways to beat your boredom. Try these out the next time you’re traveling.

The Travel Playlist

If your life revolves around music, this is a great way to pass the time on long flights and downtime in-between destinations. While playlists are often associated with road trips, there’s no reason to disregard them when flying.

Gauge how long your travels will be, then create a playlist on your phone or on Youtube to match the timeframe. While selecting single tracks works fine, finding entire albums from your favorite artists will really help the time fly.

Aside from music, you could opt to make a playlist of your favorite movies or even catch up on that TV series you’ve fallen behind on.

Foreign Language Handbook

Traveling to a foreign country? Take advantage of all that downtime to learn the basics of their language. Learning the local lingo is a great way to enhance your experience when traveling abroad.

There are plenty of books you can find to walk you through the foundations as well as apps that will help you learn important phrases so you can easily find food, attractions, restroom facilities, and other necessities. Who knows, you might even be able to strike up a whole conversation in another language!

An Old Fashioned Book

Whether you classify yourself as a bookworm or not, it’s easy to get lost within the pages of a good book.

If reading isn’t your favorite pastime, pick one of your favorite movies that started out on paper. You might be surprised at how much more in-depth the written version can be, adding a whole new appreciation to the cinema.

Online Gambling

If you’re a fan of slot machines and poker tables, online gambling will help the time fly. There are two separate options, playing with real or fake cash. While playing for free is a lot of fun, it doesn’t hold the same excitement as the chance to win big. There are plenty of online sites that will give your funds a kickstart with promotional codes, i.e. free money.

Instead of gambling your own hard earned cash away, head over to CasinoCoupons to find promo codes for multiple sites. They might be small amounts, but it still gives you the chance to win extra spending money on your trip.

The best part, you won’t have to spend any money to use these promo codes or sign up for the sites. Whether you win or lose, it still makes for an excellent way to pass the time while having a little fun. You can use this Golden Nugget Casino promo code to try out an online gambling site, just to see if you like it.

  1. An old fashioned book is probably my favorite from the list (I prefer non-fiction because it’s education), but I must admit, that online gambling sounds pretty tempting too…

    • An old fashioned book is my favorite too – I try to limit the books I bring to one, and then download other reading on my phone or kindle, because they do get heavy when you’re traveling, but there’s something about holding a physical book in your hands and flipping the pages.

And biggest thing to remember for online gambling is to do so responsibly :)
