The stay away hens party has become a more common phenomenon in recent years, with many brides opting for a full girls vacation before they say “I do”. And with so many fantastic hotel offers, you can ensure that your hen do is more memorable than just going out for a few drinks.

But whether you choose a spa weekend or have a more energetic celebration planned, there are some essentials you need to ensure you’ve packed. This includes:

Flats

Whether you’re dancing the night away or spending your days exploring a new city, your feet are going to start complaining very quickly if you only have your heels.

A small pair of flats can be easily stashed in your handbag to be brought out when you need them. Compact pumps or other soft shoes can be ideal as they will not take up too much space but can give your feet a rest.

This will help you to avoid potential foot pain, which could mean hobbling down the aisle on the wedding day.

Pack flats as well as heels

Custom Printed T Shirts

No hen do is complete without custom T shirts to commemorate the celebration! You can hold the shirts back to surprise your friends on the journey. Just be sure to double check everyone’s size in advance to avoid any potential hiccups.

You can go as simple or elaborate as you want for your T’s. You could simply have the bride’s name, the date along with a picture and title for your epic do or have each shirt personalized for the guests with their name or nicknames.

Just remember that if you are staying in a more upmarket hotel for the duration of your stay, you’ll need to keep the shirts classy.

Your Chargers

A hen do is probably the first time in years that all of your girlfriends have all been at the same place at the same time, so it is the perfect photo opportunity.

Whether you want to bring your digital camera or are using your smartphone, you will quickly find that your battery starts to drain. So, make sure that all your chargers are in your bag.

If you will be spending your days exploring the city, you may not have time for a full charge even if your hotel offers ample power sockets. However, you could also bring a portable battery pack. This can be charged in advance and used if you need to top off your battery.

Portable Speakers

Getting ready in your hotel room before an epic night out can take a few hours, particularly if all the girls fancy a gossip. However, you can create a more party atmosphere with some of your favorite tunes.

Or perhaps you’ve planned to stay in for a girls night and spa treatments in your hotel room. Either way, a portable speaker will allow you to enjoy all those blast from the past songs of your heydays without the crackle of your smartphone speakers.

There are portable speakers around that are very inexpensive, yet are small enough and powerful enough to handle the rigors of traveling and partying. Just remember to add some boogie tunes to your playlist for the ultimate get ready experience.

  1. Great tips, especially the flats. I love packing a pair of Yosi Samra flats for when my feet get sore. They come in a tiny pouch that’s perfect for popping in a small purse. And I hadn’t even thought about bringing along a portable charger or speakers. So smart!

    • I’ll have to look into Yosi Samra – thanks for the brand tip! Yes, flats are a lifesaver for many nights out, I usually have them hidden in my purse too :D!

  2. Great list! I definitely wouldn’t have thought of bringing portable speakers.

    • Thanks Adelina :) Yes, portable speakers are gold for a party on the move :D!

  3. What a cute post! I’ve not been to a hens party but these are great tips for those who have one coming up!

    • Most welcome, glad you enjoyed the post :)

  6. These are really great pieces of advice. Traveling without chargers…. I think thats one of the my fears every time I set out for a trip. I keep checking my bag for my chargers and my passport.

    • I used to work at a hotel, and so many people leave chargers behind by accident – the nice thing being that if you do forget to bring them with you, most hotels have a secret stash and will lend them :D
