One of the world’s leading luxury hotel brands, the Hyatt is an excellent place to spend your vacation, honeymoon, or business trip.
For those who don’t know the name, they have a string of high-class properties located in various parts of the world, and are a highly trusted brand. For those who are familiar with the name, chances are that you know that spending a night or two at a Hyatt property doesn’t come cheaply.
But despite the expense of most Hyatt hotels, we do have a couple of tricks up our sleeve for booking rooms at a discount.
Ways to Pay Less for Your Stay at the Hyatt
Join the Hyatt Rewards Program
Like any large international hotel chain, Hyatt has a rewards program which allows you to earn points for every stay, and a credit card which allows you to earn points on your everyday purchases. And you can use the points you accumulate to pay for a stay.
Sometimes, you may lack the total number of required points to get a room. Alternatively, you may be a few dollars less. But just like airlines, Hyatt offers the option of paying with a combination of points and cash.
Hyatt points are also the best way to reach their elite status, and access extra benefits that a regular visitor would not usually get. For instance, elite status perks often include free nights, room upgrades, hotel savings, free parking, and free internet.
But Hyatt is also happy sell points to anyone willing to buy. Strategically purchasing Hyatt points can be a great way to score a discount on a stay; especially in luxury Hyatt brand properties.
As you buy Hyatt points, make sure you do the math on the dollar – points value. It is also wise to plan your timing, as the conversion rates often change, and depending on when you buy you may be eligible for a bonus.
For instance, individuals who purchase points between 5000 – 9000 points often receive extra 30% discount points. Then, if you are buying more than 10,000 points, you earn an additional 40% bonus points.
Apply for the Hyatt Credit Card
The Hyatt credit card not only makes it easier to earn more Bonus Points that can be redeemed for free nights, it also treats you to an award just for being a card member.
Hyatt card members are entitled to one free night every year in a standard room at any Category 1-4 hotel or resort. With over 600 hotels and resorts to choose from, 85% of which are Category 1-4, you can celebrate in a new destination each year.
Check the Hyatt Calendar
If you want to book your room using points, it’s important to keep in mind that tpoints bookings are dependent upon availability, and you have to book within a specified timeframe.
For instance, if you try to book with points at the last minute, you might find that they decline your transaction. Additionally, the points + cash option is not available at all hotels at the same time, so it’s important to check the Hyatt calendar to see where and when points are available for your destination.
Follow them on Social Media
Hyatt offers great discounts throughout the year, and a great way of staying on top of these is to follow their social media accounts, and subscribe to their newsletter.
You’ll be the first to hear about deals, competitions, and giveaways they’re running, and be able to take advantage of flash sales you might have otherwise not heard about.
