Tips for Planning the Perfect Family Getaway
Tis the season to get out and enjoy the sun with your family. Family vacations are a favorite summer pastime. A great time for you and those you care about to explore new destinations and make new memories together.
If you’re tired of the same old family vacation, however, and you want to switch things up, these pointers are sure to help you out. There’s so much of the world to see and so many activities to explore.
How Much Will You Spend? – Creating a Budget
While you may or may not be pinching pennies having a budget is ideal when planning a family vacation. It keeps you from spending all of your money and coming home from a great time broke.
It also, in some ways, determines which hotel you’ll choose, how long you’ll stay and the types of events and activities you can get into while you’re there.
Where Will You Go? – Choosing a Destination
Most would assume that traveling to far off destinations would cost a lot of money and, therefore, they try to stay local. The truth is, you can travel to a lot of places at an affordable rate. So instead of limiting your family vacation destination, choose a destination based on activities you want to try or events you’d like to attend.
For instance, if you were interested in a location that had great weather, beaches, and tons of tourist attractions, you might consider booking a trip to La Jolla, CA. If you were more interested in shopping, major tourist attractions, and the city life you might plan a family trip to New York City.
Where Will You Stay? – Choosing a Hotel
Hotel accommodations are an important part of planning a family vacation. While most might only look at a hotel as a place to sleep and take a shower, you can actually have a ton of fun right on the hotel grounds.
Try looking for hotel accommodations that have a lot of kid friendly amenities. Gyms, indoor and outdoor pools, restaurants, playgrounds, and more will keep you busy on the days you don’t feel like traveling outside of the hotel.
What Will You Do? – Activities and Events
The best part of vacationing is being able to go out and explore a new area. When you’re thinking about the types of things you’ll get into, try to keep everyone’s interests and age in mind.
For instance, if you have younger children and were planning a trip to California, you might consider visiting the San Diego Zoo. If you have teenagers, they might enjoy going to museums, shopping malls, or amusement parks. If it’s just an adult trip you might plan more nightlife activities, comedy shows, plays, and the like.
Try to switch up what you do each day. You don’t have to spend a ton of money each day to enjoy yourselves. Perhaps go to a local park, take a tour, or go to a museum during the day and then go out for dinner or a show in the evening. Try to explore as much of your chosen destination as you can to truly enjoy your vacation.
This year’s family vacation will be one filled with lots of fun, excitement, and cool activities to participate in. Don’t let a budget get in the way of exploring the big wide world around you.
Remember to get your family’s input on things like events, activities and destinations so you can ensure you’re planning a family trip that everyone will be anxious to pack for.
