There are plenty of expensive options for getting to the airport, and this is definitely one area you can splurge if you really want to – luxury limos, cars, and VIP services are offered for almost every airport.

But if you want to save that money for later, the cheapest ways to get to the airport are by public transport like the train, or getting someone you know to take you to the airport.

Taxis are the most common way to reach an airport, or get from the airport once you land, especially if you’re in a foreign destination. But research in advance whether there are public options like trains, buses, the metro, or if your hotel has a free airport shuttle.

If you’re traveling with a large group you can also rent a vehicle. Whether you are looking for van rentals in Chicago, Seattle, or a small town, if you reach a certain number of people reserving a driver can help cut down on costs of everyone traveling seperately.

Often it’s the train, but if you need to take a car you should probably reserve it ahead of time, so the driver is waiting for you.

You should know exactly how much you’re paying and confirm it with the driver. Make sure you know whether you’re paying a set cost, or if the car should be metered. Only take official taxis.

Do a little research to lower the stress and expense of getting to your destination. It’s worth it to plan when you are figuring out whether to take a train, bus, or car service to your arrival destination.

So many cities have amazing public transport systems, which are fast, efficient, clean, and even dare we say, exciting!
