Normal packing lists include things like socks, charger cords, and your favorite book. But a romantic weekend is something much different.

A romantic getaway typically implies that you plan to spend more time in the hotel than away seeing the sights. You probably won’t need your walking shoes and camera for something like this.

Instead, you’ll want fun things to do in the room while you’re relaxing and reconnecting with your spouse or partner.

Additionally, it can help to choose a hotel with amenities that give you both what you need to rest, relax, and reconnect. A pool, hot tub, and room service options can help you facilitate a lovely weekend.

7 Things to Pack for a Romantic Weekend Away

Flirty Clothes

The most important thing about the weekend is that you personally feel great. And clothes can go a long way to achieving this confidence.

Ladies, pick your favorite dress, skirt, or even a fun, flirty one-piece jumpsuit. Wearing something you enjoy and that your love will also enjoy looking at you in, can help set the tone and the mood for the weekend.

You don’t have to wear back breaking heels, but go for something that’s nicer than your boring flip-flops or dirty sneakers. This is not the time or place for your Crocs either.

Guys, you need to wear the things she loves the most. Don’t bring your favorite old t-shirt that you wore in college. Pick a nice button-up or something that fits you well and you know she will appreciate you wearing it.

You want to elevate your typical look, so you aren’t in your casual jeans and sweatshirts for the weekend. If she is going to elevate her look, you need to elevate yours.

Your Favorite Perfume

This is for both men and women – smells can be intoxicating, and just a whiff of a particular scent can send your heart racing and bring a smile to your face.

Take a bottle of Cool Water cologne or Chanel No. 5 with you. One squirt is more than enough to set the mood.

Your romantic weekend away should include the little things like fragrances and textures to help you set a mood that is different from your family vacations or work trips away.

Sensual Snacks

Having your favorite snacks on hand can save you trips to the store, which means more time in the hotel room.

Pack your suitcase with all the things you enjoy munching on. It’s also a good idea to look for the things you aren’t sure you can find at your destination spot.

It can save you from disappointment when you realize you can’t get grape-flavored Mentos or spicy peanuts in Florida as you can in your region. Though also go for sensual snacks, like chocolate too.

Massage Lotion or Oil

Don’t have time regularly for things like giving each other massages? A romantic weekend away is the perfect time for it.

Find a small bottle of massage lotion so you have it on hand when you get to the hotel. This is a great way to relax and helps to set the mood.

Battery Powered Tea Lights … NOT Candles

The hotel probably won’t provide the right kind of mood lighting for your romantic weekend away, so you need to do it yourself.

Though while you may be used to candles at home, having a literal burning flame in a room that’s not yours isn’t something the hotel will appreciate, nor will the guests if you set off the fire alarm which evacuates the building.

Instead, bring battery-powered tea lights and other little lights to create a romantic ambiance throughout the room. You’ll love the soft glow and how it automatically makes a room feel more intimate.

Comfortable Robe

Lounging in the hotel in a comfortable robe could be a great option. While some hotels provide robes for couples who stay in their accommodations, others do not.

It’s best to ask about the amenities they offer for couples, and then bring your own if they don’t include them. They can keep you warm and cozy.

Mood Music

Music is another way to set the mood for a romantic getaway. Create some playlists with all your favorite songs. You can have one that’s for dancing, while others are for more intimate times.

If you have songs from your wedding or other important relational milestones, those are great to add to the list as well. While you don’t need to bring any CDs along, you can use apps like Spotify, Apple Music, and Amazon Music to make your own custom lists.
