You might not think that ‘beauty products’ are essential when you travel, but really, most personal care, skin care, make-up and cosmetic products are all described under the same category.

It can be a definite struggle figuring out which products you want to take with you; which to buy in your destination, which to pack in your carryon, and which have the least chance of spilling and making a mess in your bag!

Plus, if you’ve decanted anything into travel pots, you can’t always tell what’s what – although you can order custom labels to help with that!

So what’s the best answer?

There are some which are so practical, multipurpose, and serve your ongoing hygiene, that they become essential to feeling fresh, clean, and stress free.

Practical Beauty Products to Pack in Your Travel Bag

Solid Soaps

Solid soaps, be it body wash, face wash, shampoo or conditioner are gaining popularity among travelers because they’re not liquid, so have less chance of spilling in your bag, can be re-used until gone, and don’t come in throw away plastic.

Soaps smell fantastic, and you can buy them these days in almost any aroma, and are often even mulipurpose, being able to double as shampoo and body wash.

It’s far more hygenic to use your own vs using public soap bars, espeically in countries or places which don’t have automatic dispensers, and there are no restrictions on bringing them through airport security.

They’re also fantastic souveneirs as come in many shapes, sizes, and purposes, like Iceland’s Blue Lagoon lava soap that gently exfoliates the skin while cleansing it, leaving it clean and smooth.

Facial Wipes

Facial wipes while traveling are a great way to clean up when you’re on the move and don’t have access to a bathroom. They allow you to freshen up, clean up, and can be used for anything; face, hands, feet, your airport tray table etc.

There are a lot of brands on the market targeted for different skin types, so make sure to choose the right one for your needs. Also, since traveling dehydrates the skin, a moisturizing face wipe might be your best bet.

Toothpaste Tablets

Instead of packing a regular tube of toothpaste, try buying toothpaste tablets. Essentially, they are the same thing as normal toothpaste, you just pop one in your mouth a chew it then proceed to brush your teeth normally.

These are awesome to pack, especially if you’re travelling with a carryon, and this is their big selling point.

“Not only are they portable and heat resistant – you can leave them in the heat and they won’t melt into some kind of gross spearmint epoxy – they’re much more sustainable too.”

Color Sticks

These are makeup sticks that usually include a combo for lips, eyes, and cheeks – all in one! Very practical and useful when travelling and on vacation.

You can keep this in your purse for a touchup on the go without having to bring with 3 different products.

Tinted Moisturizer with SPF

There’s no need to travel with both moisturizer and sunscreen when you can find 2 in 1 products which do both; moisturizes, gives you coverage and protects the skin form UV rays.

This is perfect for travelling to warmer climates or even a beach vacation where you want just minimal makeup.

Traveling with practical beauty products does not require a lot of space, they can even fit in a small-size travel makeup bag inside your hand luggage!
