After having been on the road for over a week, staying in a different hotel every night, we were beginning to feel a bit homesick. Luckily we found our home away from home in Nags Head, North Carolina.

What started out as a local favorite restaurant in the 1950’s, rich in history, now stands the Oasis Suites.  The property stands like a beacon on the Roanoke Sound much like the Cape Hatteras Lighthouse of the Outer Banks (which is a beautiful drive from Oasis).

From the moment we arrived at Oasis we knew we were in for a treat. General Manager Peggy Corbell Langley greeted us as though we were family, and we were given a literal gift bag of knowledge upon arrival with area maps and guides which proved to be very helpful in taking advantage of all the Nags Head area had to offer.

As for the room, it could be classified as your own personal condominium. We were in awe of the furnishings which rested upon beautiful wooden floors. It can best be described as pure elegance.

We were immediately drawn to our private balcony with its incredible waterfront view. We watched as other guests fished out of the Oasis’ private dock which can accommodate guest’s private boats or personal watercraft. We would learn that a charming gazebo on the property hosts numerous intimate weddings perfectly suited for those seeking smaller private venue in a breathtaking setting. We could easily envision vows being read as the beautiful sunset sparkles off the water and into the gazebo through onto the manicured lawn.

As the sun set and the skies darkened with the onset of a large thunderstorm, we took refuge in our spacious suite. We had no plans to head out into the storm, and not that we needed to.  We had everything we needed and more in our room.

The full kitchen provided us with a sink, full fridge, stove, microwave, and cupboards stocked with cutlery, plates, glasses, and cooking utensils. You name it, we had it. The rooms are kept immaculate, something we would not expect from a coastal destination as it must be hard cleaning the sand after a day at the beach – also just a short drive down the road.

Every creature comfort of home.

Other attractions just up the road which we learned of from our gift basket of guides include the Wright Brother’s Memorial where aviation was born, and Jockeys Ridge State Park, home to the largest and tallest natural sand dune system in the Eastern U.S.  Blog posts from both attractions to come!

Oasis Suites is the perfect accommodation for those looking to get away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Privacy awaits you and yet just a short car ride will bring you into the action and adventure of Nags Head and the Outer Banks. It was hard to say goodbye to our home away from home, however we’ll be back for a return visit sooner than later!
