I started life as a digital nomad 7 years ago. At this time, working from my laptop while traveling the world wasn’t heard of.

And even in 2019, it was still a very ‘out of the box’ idea for most of society, that you could pack up your belongings, grab a laptop and a travel monitor, and work from the road.

My office has been on a cruise ship in Antarctica, from a hammock in the Galapagos Islands, and from a treehouse in Costa Rica with the sloths and monkeys as my neighbors for the night.

Of all the 100 countries I’ve visited, my laptop and portable laptop monitor have always been with me, and now that the world has woken up to being able to work from home, people have also realized ‘home’ can be substituted for the road.

Whether you’re working from home or the road, the INNOCN Travel Monitor N1F PRO is one of my favorite entry level laptop monitors for personal business, office, and travel.

It’s been specifically created as a portable option for travelers to move with, delivers an in-built speaker, kickstand, USB C, HDMI, and, for the weary traveler, has been thoughtfully designed with eye care in mind.

It offers a great contrast, brightness, and is plug and play for easy use, which positions it as one of the best portable laptop monitors on the market at this price point.

Portable and Sturdy

When traveling with tech, two things matter most: portability, and durability. That is; is it easy to travel with, and is it sturdy enough to survive turbulence in the overhead locker!

Portability wise, this travel monitor can’t be beaten, it’s super slim, weighs 2.0 lbs, and has a 0.24″ profile.

And the functionality of the monitor means I’ve often even left my laptop at home; it’s a great option for enjoying a larger screen from your phone (it’s compatible with most USB Type-C mobiles), which allows you to slim down your tech if you only need to work from your phone.

Pro tip: If you unplug the power cable from the monitor but leave the phone plugged into the data port, the phone can actually power the monitor, and the monitor will go into a low power mode where the screen is dimmer but it still works. This makes it fully portable, without needing to be plugged into a wall outlet.

Many tech companies then have problems making their ultra slim products also sturdy, but not INNOCN. They do what most tech companies fail miserably at, and strike the right balance between maintaining quality technology with a sturdy body; for something so thin, the N1F PRO is a real surprise.

Despite being so slim (you can fit it in a work backpack), it’s not flimsy, and has been produced with a solid build. It’s not going to fall over, and also comes with an adjustable kickstand for different viewing angles.

This is especially important when you’re traveling, as my monitors have been set on everything from beds, to actual office desks, to hotel ironing boards, and you need flexibility of viewing angle when you’re reliant on other people’s furniture!

Plug & Play: Connectivity & Actual Use

When you’re on the move you also want tech which is easy, which is straightforward to connect to your devices, and doesn’t require a university degree to operate.

And that’s why the N1F PRO is a real gem.

It works off both USB C & HDMI connectivity, and has a wide compatibility, compatible with not only laptops, but also USB C smartphones, Switch, XBOX, PS5/4/3, mini pc, digital cameras etc.

You simply plug, play, and share, and don’t need any drivers. It delivers a stable connection and steady data transmission, and has 3.5mm audio inputs. Overall, it’s a very friendly design, and the user experience is fantastic.

Screen Time & Your Eyes

You hear the word ‘screentime’ thrown around a lot lately, and it’s actually very important to care for your sight when you travel.

This probably isn’t something you think about when you consider buying a portable laptop monitor for travel, but it should be! Travel has a way of putting us in environments that can be harsh on the eyes, so the screens you’re in front of should be friendly.

The INNOCN Travel Monitor N1F PRO delivers a 178°wide view with 1080p resolution display. It has a 100% sRGB color gamut which gives you clear, real images, and a high brightness of 420±20 cd/m2 (this means that color contrasts are more vivid).

And while blue light glasses are all the rage, this travel monitor has actually been built with blue light and flicker-free technology, which keeps your eyes from becoming tired from strain.
