I was a bit shocked to learn that Birmingham is home to the UK’s second largest number of casinos, although it does make sense when you consider it’s the UK’s second-most populous city after London.

Enjoying one of Birmingham’s casinos provides something more unique than simply a night out at a local restaurant or pub. There are both big name casino brands as well as quieter independent casinos. This is in addition to virtual gambling via UK NonGamStopSlots online casinos.

So if you’re looking to join the local Brummies for a bit of gambling, grab your bowler felt hat like those worn by the local late 19th century Birmingham Peaky Blinders gang and pull up a seat at one of these top Birmingham casinos.

Casinos To Visit in Birmingham

Broadway Casino

It may not be a large casino, but Broadway Casino is regarded as the top independent casino within Birmingham. While it offers blackjack, punto banco, three card poker, and slots, it’s the electronic roulette terminals which seem to be the big hit with visitors.

The electronic roulette terminals are connected to two auto wheels and two live tables, allowing you to catch the fun and excitement of roulette with a bit of privacy, great if it’s your first time playing roulette.

The onsite Italian restaurant offers a relaxed atmosphere which provides live music on the weekends. The gaming kicks off each day around noon. Next door in the Broadway Plaza is also a great bowling alley named Hollywood Bowl which has 20 lanes and a fun American-themed diner.

Resorts World Birmingham

Europe’s first resort casino, Resorts World Birmingham is also the UK’s largest. The casino is just a part of this sprawling complex that also includes shops, a cinema with IMAX, a Hollywood Bowl, and hotel.

It’s basically a land-based cruise ship that offers accommodation, entertainment, and relaxation for the whole family. Genting-owned, the casino has all the regular table games you’d expect from a grand casino such as baccarat, blackjack, and roulette. There are also ample slot machines to win big at.

Enjoy weekend live music at Sky By The Water with its rooftop bar and secret garden. You’ll always be rewarded with exceptional views over Pendigo Lake and can take advantage of their afternoon tea that serves up scones, pastries, cakes, and sandwiches.

Over at the Santai Spa, you can relax the day away with a wide range of spa treatments or swim in their state-of-the-art pool with hydrotherapy jets and hot-stone loungers.

Directly across the street is Resorts World Arena where big name music acts are scheduled throughout the year. Recently the arena hosted the Concert for Ukraine which saw Camila Cabello and Ed Sheeran perform alongside many other popular musicians.

Genting Casino Edgbaston

If you find yourself in the affluent neighborhood of Edgbaston, one of the UK’s most expensive postcodes outside of London, be sure to check out the Genting Casino Edgbaston. It’s a mid-sized casino that has seen a rather recent refurbishment.

Unlike some of the other local Genting casinos you may be used to, the one in Edgbaston is usually less crowded, good if you like a more relaxed gambling experience. Enjoy most popular games such as American roulette, blackjack, and poker, with live gaming running from 4PM to 4AM.

There is usually the Fahrenheit Restaurant which serves delicious grilled steaks and seafood, but they are currently closed with no scheduled reopening date.

Fun fact, Lord of the Rings author J. R. R. Tolkien resided in Edgbaston during his early years as did Pink Floyd drummer Nick Mason who was born here, so maybe check out their residences after your visit to the casino.

Rainbow Casino

Birmingham’s longest running casino, Rainbow Casino is another mid-sized casino just a stone’s throw from the Genting Casino Edgbaston. Once again you can expect most traditional table games in addition to Mah Jong.

The casino has an inviting outdoor gaming terrace if you like a bit of fresh air, although be warned it does allow smoking so that may ruin your “fresh air” experience. The casino is also one of the area’s best venues for catching sports thanks to several large screens that feature Sky Sports, BT Sports, and Box Nation. Catch football, rugby, Formula 1, boxing, and UFC.

And players do win big here, with one roulette winner claiming to have come up with a “special system” managing to take home £50,000. However, be warned that if you are as lucky or as self-proclaimed intelligent as he states, you may find yourself banned from the casino as he was after all his big takings.

Just up the street, there is also a lovely outdoor space called Edgbaston Reservoir which features a 2-kilomtre walking/jogging track and is popular with windsurfers, sailors, anglers, and rowers.

Genting Casino Chinatown

Just like in London’s Chinatown, Genting also has a casino in Birmingham’s Chinatown. It’s one of the newer players in town, having only opened back in 2014 after having been the Fox Poker Club.

While the casino’s Imperial Kitchen serves up plenty of authentic Chinese cuisine, you’ll find even more at the nearby Arcadian open-air piazza. This collection of restaurants and bars has become a melting pot of flavours where you can feast on Italian, Vietnamese, Japanese, Persian, Latin, Greek, or Indian food.

There is also a comedy club at The Arcadian, while karaoke can be enjoyed back at the casino alongside a late night bar.

These are some of the most notable casinos to enjoy in Birmingham. Should you find yourself wanting to roam around the UK a bit more, you’ll find some of these casino brands in Manchester such as Genting or Grosvenor Casino if you visit Leeds.
