Are you one of those people who loves to stay at 5 star hotels?

It’s always exciting to stay in a well designed and super stylish luxe hotel, but unfortunately this time spent immersed in sophistication is often short lived, and we always have to return to our own bedrooms.

But, what if returning to your own bedroom was even more exciting than a short stay at a luxury hotel; what if you could create a bedroom so beautiful that it was like living in a luxury hotel?!

For most people, it’s far too expensive to live out of hotels permanently, but if you can’t bring your bedroom to the hotel, why not bring the hotel to your bedroom? The following simple design ideas will help you get started!

5 Simple Ideas to Design Your Bedroom Like a Hotel Room

Set Up a Small Seating Area

The luxe hotel room always has a small seating area where you can sit and relax or can entertain your guests. So, the first step to creating the hotel feel in your own bedroom is to create a similar space.

Whether it’s by adding a couch, setting up cozy cushions on a bay window to create some seating, or a placing plush chair in the corner of the room, this is the place where you’ll read your favorite book, enjoy your morning brew, or just hang out.

The seating space doesn’t need to be fancy, even a beanbag chair with a modern marble coffee table from RJ Living or a cute lampshade is sufficient to create a refreshing corner.

Hotel rooms generally have a small work desk tucked in the corner where you can put your laptop or work documents. This might not be important to you, but if you do have the space, give the room that extra hotel vibe by adding both spaces.

Choose Your Bedding Wisely

Your bed is the main feature of your bedroom (I mean, it’s in the name!), so you can make it bold and prominent by selecting solid platform bed frames and using colorful patterns to highlight the wall behind your bed.

The best platform bed frames are easy to move, add a minimalist style touch to your bedroom, and allow you to style your bed as you please. Bed heads also allow you to get creative with color palettes and textures that can add a highly luxe feel to the room.

If you want to add a dramatic touch to your hotel style bedroom, get creative and think about things like raising your bed a couple of inches by putting it a platform.

Of course, your bedding itself comes into play here too; a luxury hotel room isn’t just about the look, it’s about the sleeping experience. The investment in high quality sheets, pillows, throws, and the best luxury mattress makes a massive difference.

Create a Dedicated Feature Wall

Almost every luxury hotel room has some form of feature wall, typically this is behind the bed, but it doesn’t always have to be. And there are so many options, from wallpaper to tiles, to painting a beautiful mural.

Wallpaper in particular has become quite trendy for feature walls, and is no longer stuck in the 70’s. It comes in very easy to use roll on packs, and you can either buy repeat patterned paper for natural effects like stone, or cement, or murals that transport you into a different world entirely.

There are a huge range of creative ways you can use paint these days too; and top of the line paints often offer different textures, like copper, chalkboard, or marble effects.

Get creative with depth; you can create beautiful patterns by structuring wood in a lattice effect before painting, you could use Moroccan tiles, or even flooring if you find one that looks incredible.

Just because something was created to be used one way, doesn’t mean you can’t use it for your walls!

Add Lighting Fixtures

Often the most important style tip to creating your hotel room effect is around adding the perfect lighting. Hotels utilize their lighting specifically to create a relaxing environment, so this is what you’re aiming for when you go shopping.

You’ll first want to find lamps that can go on bed side tables, and these can be used as feature pieces as well as for practical lighting for bed time reading.

After that you can start getting creative and fancy; why not add lights underneath the bed to create the illusion that it’s floating? Or, you could add dimmer lights to change the mood of the room from time to time.

If you’re designing a children’s room, why not consider starlight ceiling lighting, or, if you have a large wardrobe, consider adding in specific wardrobe lighting.

Add Comfort to Your Room

When you’re designing your room to feel like a hotel, sit down and think about what makes you stay in a hotel room? Think about the extras that stand out, and take inspiration from some of your favorite rooms.

Most people will agree here that they love to stay in hotel rooms because of the luxurious comfort they provide. So don’t forget to include elements of comfort in your bedroom too.

This could be anything from piles of throw pillows, to fluffy and stylish rugs, extra soft bedcovers, wavy curtains, beautiful comforters, and quirky decorative items. The definition of comfort is different for every person so you can add your favorite comfort elements in your bedroom to personalize your room.

So, you’ll see that it’s actually quite simple to design your personal hotel bedroom. You just have to bring elements of comfort, style, illusion, and luxury into your space and you can live in a hotel environment forever!
