The Crimson Rosella’s are forced to scatter as a pair of Rainbow Lorikeets decide it’s their time to feed. They descend upon the bird feeder we’ve packed with seeds, sending the two Rosella’s into a fast retreat. A sudden burst of vivid plumage and squawking fills the air. The Lorikeets have first pickings here. They have their run of the rainforest and make sure every other bird knows it too.

Over the past few years, Mike and I have been fortunate enough to experience our fair share of sensational accommodation. Think plush penthouse suites in Las Vegas where the range of in room amenities is so excessive it will fulfill every wildest dream. Or an intimate boutique loft apartment in New York. Think a decadent hotel built atop ancient Incan ruins in Peru. We recently also stayed in a room which came with a zoo! Glamping in Australia

Suffice to say, we have slept around quite extensively when it comes to luxury rooms. And it as such takes something truly exceptional to wow us to our core. Who knew it would be our first experience glamping, in the Australian bush no less, which would leave us both in absolute awe.

Sleek and Romantic Cabins in an Unspoiled Forest on the Southern Coast of Australia

Tucked away among 100 acres of natural forest along Australia’s South East coast, and located just over 1km from the sparkling waters of the Pacific Ocean lies sleek and romantic cabins in an unspoiled forest setting.

This part of Australia is known as the “Eurobodalla Nature Coast” due to its natural environment and prolific wildlife, and glampers are invited to come and reconnect with that special someone in pure, private bliss.

Encompassed completely by a lush, green forest, these detailed and stylish accommodations are far from any noise and distractions, and this intimate, natural setting blended with spacious and ultra modern cabins allows for the ultimate romantic escape. This is Australian glamping at it’s best.

There are five cabins total here, each located at least 100 meters apart, and each separated by a screen of natural forest. The privacy here is unparalleled. Privacy is what this property is all about, and your cabin comes in a secluded setting, offering you your own private section of the Australian bush. Each cabin has its own vehicle access, and there is ample space to park.

The perks of seclusion? Floor to ceiling windows in each room allow you to enjoy a spa in total privacy, overlooking the natural bushland. Sip on champagne in the hot tub while watching as kookaburras and crimson Rosella’s come out to play. Where is the best glamping in Australia?

Enjoy the luxury of an outdoor shower knowing you won’t be able to see any neighbouring guests. Quiet forest strolls will help you recharge your batteries, while a late-night log fire in the cabin, along with some chocolate and champagne, tops off the perfect romantic night.

If you’re looking for luxury boutique accommodation on Australia’s South Coast then this may suit you. Bower at Broulee hotel review

Luxury Accommodation

When you think of a cabin in the woods, “rustic” is one word which comes to mind. Though these “bowers” are anything but.

Each cabin has a king-sized bed, a 2 person spa, and a double shower with piped music to the spa room. Though between the outdoor shower and the spa, we didn’t have the chance to take advantage of the shower indoors. There is a flat-screen TV, DVD player, and W-Fi access. Each cabin also includes a full-sized washing machine and clothes dryer, as well as air conditioning and ceiling fans. Reviews of glamping sites in Australia

There is a genuine wood fireplace, a fully self contained kitchen, and a private deck complete with a barbecue grill meaning guests can be completely self-sufficient if they choose. Recline on your own private deck with a glass of wine over a sumptuous BBQ amongst the eucalypt forest. Pull out the bird seed from inside if you feel like inviting a few guests to join you. Each Bower is set up with a bird feeder too. Australian glamping reviews Best Aus glamping

Tucked away among 100 acres of natural forest along Australia’s South East coast, and located just over 1km from the sparkling waters of the Pacific Ocean lies, The Bower at Broulee; sleek and romantic cabins in an unspoiled forest setting.

The accommodation is ultra luxurious, but there’s a very relaxed atmosphere, so that you can totally unwind from the stresses of modern life. Soft jazz was playing on arrival as we unlocked the door, and the aroma of candles and scented soap washed through the air. They truly captured tranquility here.

This is the perfect romantic sanctuary, an ideal setting to pamper the one you love and to be pampered. It’s like a dream that no-one would ever want to wake up from. – Guest Review.

Though luxurious extra touches and attention to every detail are what land the property the title of the most sensational accommodation of which we have ever stayed. The owners, Mark and Sue, have spared no expense in decking out these “cabins in the woods”, and it absolutely shows. Theses sleek and romantic cabins have everything you could wish for from a luxury stay.

Relax in the spa at night and switch on the outdoor lighting to highlight the surrounding forest. Bathrobes, slippers and eye masks are provided to make your nights as restful as possible. Open the blinds to bring nature into your bedroom, or close them if you prefer privacy from the surrounding wildlife.

Heated towel racks, candles, an impressive amount of literature on local adventure and sight seeing options, and even a modest selection of novels and magazines; they have gone above and beyond to cater to everything you could possibly think to need. Where to glamp in Australia

Guests are welcomed with a complimentary breakfast hamper on arrival, which includes all of the best ingredients for a scrumptious breakfast. Bacon, tomatoes, sausages, fresh fruit, a selection of juices, croissants and bread. There are gourmet meal and picnic hamper options available too; pre-order before arrival and you will show up to a fridge fully stocked.

For those who can drag themselves away from their luxury cabin, rolling hills, native animals and nearby national parks and state forests are just waiting to be explored. It won’t take long to find your inner adventurer here.

There are over six miles of walking trails through the surrounding forest, and Illawong Nature Reserve leads hikers past native flora and fauna, and eventually to North Broulee Beach. (Broulee village is flanked by 2 excellent surfing beaches separated by Broulee Island, which is a dedicated nature reserve to preserve its fauna, flora and the remnants of the original Broulee settlement.) Are there good glamping sites in Australia?

Once at the beach, there are a great number of activities and attractions at your disposal. Sea-kayaking, bushwalking, and horseback riding are all within reach, as well as the popular tourist draws of the Murramarang National Park , Deua National Park, and Montague Island. Glamping in Australia

Mark and Sue can arrange for luxury excursions, like surfing and yoga retreats, or mountain biking and kayak tours. The property also organizes whale watching trips on either a charter boat or kayak, as well as visits to local art galleries and expeditions. Glamping in New South Wales

  1. Wow! Looks like an awesome experience. We would love to visit your beautiful country one day. :)

    • I hope you do have the chance to visit soon :) And if you stay at the Bower let us know – we live only a few hours away, so would be happy to show you around!

  2. What a gorgeous getaway. It looks so picturesque, and having the birds so close would be a treat. Outdoor showers seem like a strange idea, but I know from experience that they are fantastic.

    • Absolutely Rhonda! I had never taken an outdoor shower before, though it was surprisingly luxurious and super amazing to be feeling as though you’re at one with nature! Loved it! Need to find an outdoor shower more often lol!

  3. Phwoooar that looks quite alluring, especially the outdoor shower. Nothing like a romantic log fire to set the romantic mood eh? How do you get there/nearest big city/transport hub?

    • So the closest big city would be Canberra, which is where I’m living at the moment – it’s a 2 hour dive East. Otherwise it is a 4 hour drive South of Sydney and 8-9 hours North of Melbourne.

Super easy to get there from Canberra or Sydney, you can access the Eurobodalla area via the King Highway [from Canberra] the Princes Highway or the Hume Freeway/Kings Highway from Sydney or Melbourne :) Highly recommend it!

  4. Wow, looks so comfortable and cool. Glmping is something I haven’t experienced yet but I wish I will soon. And also going back to Australia is something I wish I’ll do as soon as possible! thank you for sharing

    • So comfortable it’s not even funny lol we didn’t want to ever leave!! Sounds like you have a great excuse to combine the two and try some Glamping on a return trip to Aus!

  5. That looks amazing! I love going to places that go the extra mile through the small details. After all, it’s the little things that count. Looks lush!

    • So lush! We had a truly phenomenal time, and we can’t wait to get back. The property is working on setting up a wedding venue too, and these would be absolutely amazing as honeymoon suites :)

  6. This is my kind of camping! I love the attention to details like the heated towel rack and 2 person shower. The local looks perfect too. Take a hike through the forest then stroll along the beach.

    • Isn’t it! I think I’ve now set my standards for camping fairly high lol!!

The attention to detail was what most blew us away, we literally couldn’t find a single fault, the whole experience right down to the little things was just flawless :) The location was pretty spectacular too!

  7. I have never been glamping, but I does look great! I would much rather spend a night surrounded by nature than in a fancy hotel in the middle of a city!

    • Being immersed in nature instead of looking out your window to find just another city really does make for a fantastic accommodation experience. And it’s fabulous that there are now options for those who enjoy luxury but still want the camping experience of being close to nature.

I hope you have the chance to experience glamping firsthand soon! Can 100% vouch for it!

  8. This looks like an amazing Glamping location. I must admit that I too love the finer things in life so have not really embraced the idea of glamping as I thought it was just a marketing ploy to make camping sound better. , Your photos make me rethink this. I love the seclusion of the setting and the outdoor shower is just wonderful. I sure hope I get a chance to return to Australia so will keep this idea in mind, thanks.

    • Haha I promise it’s definitely not a marketing ploy!

We weren’t sure what to expect from glamping either honestly, though there are some truly amazing glamping sites out there and it’s literally got everything you would expect from a 4/5 star hotel. Running water, proper plumbing, cooking facilities and TV’s – it really is the best of both worlds!!

Regular hotel views will never be the same again :D

  9. Mmmm, you had me at “outdoor shower”.

    • First time I had experienced one – I never want to shower indoors ever again!! :D

  10. What a unique combination of luxury and the outdoors. It looks glorious!

    • Absolutely is Fiona! We didn’t want to ever have to leave!

  11. I have never been glamping, but boy oh boy do I want too. It looks GREAT! The outlook from the bath is lovely. Adding to my list. :)

    • And this is so close to Canberra! Staycation!!

  12. Love the freedom in this glamping! The outdoor shower is fantastic and like you, I am sure I would have the guts to do that! You look fantastic, btw! I am also looking into their other glamping cabins in Europe. Looks like a good company to work with.

    • Thanks Trisha! Glamping Hub have glamping sites all over the world, so definitely jump on over to the website, they still have amazing listings even if you’re not making it to Aus any time soon :)

  13. Love these rustic but luxurious accommodation options. I have jus come back from namibia where this was the norm and there is something so soothing and relaxing about knowing that you are one with nature but with all the comforts. The Bower will now get into the list, Australia is best explored out and about

    • Wow, I would love to get to Namibia at some point – especially if accommodation options like this are the norm!

There really is something so amazing about being able to be right in with nature while still enjoying the luxury comforts of a hotel suite. I don’t know if I’ll ever be able to bring myself to “roughing it” again lol :D!

  14. To me, camping is roughing it in the outdoors. However, that is not to say that I don’t love a little pampering once in awhile. One of my favorite parts about camping is just being at one with nature. I love the idea of having my own outdoor shower and privacy, all while getting to enjoy nature! Sounds like bliss!

    • Really is bliss LeAnna! I don’t know if I’ll ever think of “roughing it” the same again lol.

  15. Wow – this is true glamping to me! I’ve only used an outdoor shower once before and even though I knew others couldn’t see me, it was really uncomfortable … too bad we won’t be visiting this part of Australia on our upcoming trip, it would’ve been a great addition to our trip!

    • There should be some great sites in Tasmania for you too though if you’re looking at glamping as an option for accommodation. Jump over the the Glamping Hub site and check it out – they have listings for all over Aus :)

  16. This looks so incredible exotic and romantic! I am usually a rustic camping kind of gal, but something like this on a honeymoon or much needed romantic getaway seems just perfect!!

    • I think even those who love rustic camping would find glamping incredibly enjoyable! Definitely nice to splurge once in a while and enjoy more comfort when you camp :)

  17. Now this is the kind of camping that would satisfy myself and my husband. I’m not a camper but this is incredible! Everything you need to feel like one with nature but without the hard, cold ground and impossible tent.

    • You’ll be a die hard glamper after this!! All of the benefits of camping and being immersed in nature without any of the hassle or discomfort of having to sleep on the ground :D! Seriously, glamping has rocked our world!

  18. What a lovely place! I can’t believe they call it glamping though. It looks like a luxurious rental, though I’ve never seen rentals with birds before :)

    • Definitely more luxurious fully functional cabin than a tent!

We set up the booking through a company called Glamping Hub, and they have listings for all sorts of types of glamping … from barns and cabins, to tree houses and caves. Their distinction or definition of glamping is a unique structure with an incomparable access to nature :)

  19. We’ve been glamping before (and we’ve also roughed it in a funky treehouse, so that might count as glamping too) and it really is the prefect blend of comfort and nature.

It might not work so well in Australia, but if anyone is planning a glamping trip to Canada, take heart and know that most glamping tents have electric blankets and space heaters so you’ll be toasty warm in all seasons.

    • Oooh nice one on the electric blankets in Canada, I can imagine that those are probably required during winter!! Australia is pretty lucky to have quite mild temperatures in a number of destinations throughout winter, though there are some parts which do get quite cold, so glamping sites with heating will win over regular camping anyday!

  20. Looks like a great stay. I remember visiting Australia in high school and watching lorikeets for the first time. There’s a photo of me with terrible hair and a lorikeet on my finger floating around the world somewhere.

    • We had a wonderful time :) Lol and you’ll have to get back to revisit the Lorikeets again!

  21. I don’t think I’ve ever really been glamping before. Unless you count staying in thatched huts glamping. I need to start incorporating this into my travel plans. It looks amazing!

    • Definitely consider incorporating a few glamping stays into your itinerary – there are some truly spectacular sites out there, and you’ll find it’s the most amazing accommodation experience you could have!

  22. What a stunning spot to stop it looks way to upmarket to call it glamping, it’s really looks like the perfect romantic place to recharge and relax

    • As our first stay it has definitely left me with some pretty high expectations moving forward :D! Really is the perfect place for romance, and for both recharging and kicking back for some relaxation time. Hope you have the chance to visit if you’re ever on the South Coast :)

  23. Beautiful photos of the colorful birds! This looks like a great place for rest and relaxation with luxury while also being able to experience and connect with the surrounding nature. Thanks for the review!

    • Aren’t they gorgeous! We sat and watched them for hours. Having a bird feeder in itself was a wonderful little luxury!!
