We’re all familiar with the age-old maxim “it’s the journey that matters, not the destination”, and nothing embodies this more so than a vacation in an RV. You’re unrestrained by tight schedules, you get to see parts of a destination others don’t see, and it’s just you and the open road – you’re totally free.

But after you’ve decided to hit the open road, it’s a little bit more involved than just picking up the keys to an RV. There are quite a number of different classes of vehicle, and many differences are important to note as they make each class unique.

So to help you navigate the world of RV’s, and choose a rental which is right for your journey, Campanda has put together a great infographic to help you make a more informed decision on which one would be the best fit for you and your family.

  1. I definitely like that this is in the form of an infographic, because it packs a lot of info into a small space. I also had no idea that families could save so much on travel costs by choosing to RV! Not applicable to us yet, but really interesting to keep in mind. Saving for later :)

    • We enjoy visual guides, so I love sharing infographics when I can. Glad we could inspire the thought for future trips :)

  2. This is not something I’ve really considered doing before as I like having space but it sounds like there might be more space than I thought. Worth checking out the cost

    • Surprising amount of space in RV’s, and one thing they do well is really creative use of space in terms of cubboards, furniature and facilities etc. Can highly recommend it for your next road trip :)

  3. These are great tips. We’ve never rented an RV but do have a toy hauler (like an RV but it’s trailer). I’m more inclined to do a camping van because they’re easier to drive and use less gas.

    • Thanks Deb, glad you enjoyed the infographic – yep, those are great options for a similar style trip too :)

  4. I have been discussing with my hubby that we need an RV to travel. I thought we can buy one but since they are very expensive we will consider renting.

    • Renting is a great way to start out, especially if you’ve never had one before and you’re learning the ropes. And then once you save up perhaps you can buy one!

  5. Going on a trip where I stay in an RV is something I really am dying to do. I feel you are totally free and can go and visit anything you want without restriction. I would probably fall into the category B as well as most people.

    • Glad you enjoyed the infographic David! Hope you have the opportunity to enjoy an RV trip soon :)

  6. After just spending 11 days camping around Ontario’s north, the luxury of an RV sounds pretty sweet! It’s pretty amazing just how many people can fit comfortably in these things!

    • One of those things where you’ll never want to camp again haha!! It really is incredible how many people RV’s can sleep / seat – I give the designers full credit for how they set up the interior and maximize comfort and space :)

  7. The idea of traveling in an RV has always fascinated me! I am not sure when I am going to do that though lol, but never knew there were so many types specifically designed for purposes. Class A looks classic of course by its details. I would also want to rent a campervan, sounds exciting! Thanks for sharing these details :)

    • Glad we could give you a little background info before you jump into organizing a trip :) Hope you have the chance to RV soon!

  8. Pretty sure I’m a Class C RV gal, it seems it has everything I’d need and as it says, perfect for beginners (which I am). My travel bucket list is huge, horrifyingly huge in fact, but something I’ve wanted to do a lot, is to try out travelling RV style, it seems it’d bring me to where I want to go and see a lot of amazing sights along the way. Yep! Class C for me it seems (for now)

    • Class C is definitely perfect for beginners, I think hitting the road in an RV is one of those romantic journeys which does make it on many people’s bucket lists. You’re so free!

Hope you have the chance to hit the road at some stage soon!
