We were on a spectacular scenic flight over Australia’s South East Coast, with breathtaking views over the Blue Mountains, Wollongong beach, and Sydney’s iconic skyline which stretched out in the distance. Though it was difficult to enjoy the view with a stomach full of nerves. Difficult to fully appreciate the scenery outside when we knew we were about to become part of it.

Because this wasn’t your average scenic flight. 7 of us were seated on top of each other in a tiny prop plane, each strapped to a beautiful stranger, and as soon as the plane hit 14,000 feet we would be taking the quickest route back down to the ground. Free falling at 200 kph after having jumped from a perfectly good plane. Where to skydive in Sydney

The air rushes into your face and your heart starts racing. As the adrenalin rush kicks in, you feel like you’re floating on a cushion of air. The silence is amazing, the view is sensational, and as the initial shock of the free fall quickly wears off your fear disappears, replaced with an intense and exhilarating thrill of soaring through the air. This is sky diving. Sydney skydive Australia skydiving

  1. You crazy nut!

But it does seem you enjoyed it.

    • Haha, life’s definitely not boring when you’re a nut :D Had a really fantastic day – loved every second!

  2. FAR OUT lady! You are seriously amazing. I love your zest for life. You make me wanna be fabulous, break out of my shell and really do something crazy, like fling myself out of a plane. Proud of you! Thanks for being so inspiring. xo

    • Thanks love! I’ll have to take you on my next Skydive adventure! I think they’ve actually got one in Canberra if you do ever have the urge to jump from a plane :D

  3. Awesome! I love those skydiving photos. I went skydiving in New Zealand a couple of years ago even though I’m scared of heights sometimes. It was scary sitting on the edge of the plane but then I loved every second of it.

    • Thanks Stef! So glad you got to experience the sensation too! New Zealand would have been amazing – I bet the scenery was incredible!

  4. I would be too terrified to do jump out of a plane even for free. My husband on the other hand, would love this! And yet another reason to visit Australia.

    • That’s the brilliant thing about skydiving over bungee jumping … technically they push you so you don’t have to make the jump yourself :D

  5. I paraglided over the Neuschwanstein castle in Germany. It was SOOO crazy. My legs were still wobbling from adrenaline as we landed. Can’t wait to skydive one day!

    • Oh WOW!! That would have been AMAZING!! I’ve been to Neuschwanstein and it was incredible, though I had no idea you could paraglide over the area. Those views!!

  6. Meg…Your face in those photos has just totally made my day haha!I gotta add this to the bucket list! Good job girl!

    • Haha thought I would add a few of the air blown face photos for some reality :D … even though I look like a chipmunk in the wind lol!!

Definitely add it to your bucketlist, skydiving is such a fun thing to do!!

  7. That’s so awesome that’s they’re doing some free rounds in November! Wish I was in Australia to catch that. I love the concept of the campaign too! Reconnecting in real life whilst skydiving sounds like the answer! I cannot wait to do this. Honestly, I’d probably sky dive first before bungee jumping!

    • I much prefer Skydiving over bungee jumping too – feels a lot more safe since you’re strapped to a professional who knows what they’re doing :D

  8. Recently one of my friend did this and i was in awe. Now here comes your post with awesome pics. Feel great for you that you did it.

    • Thanks Himanshu! You should book in to experience it for yourself too :D

  9. How fun! this is the first time I read a post from you! and I’m going to follow you guys!

    • Thanks Ardjette :) Glad that you enjoyed the post X

  10. My family loves skydiving but falling for fun just isn’t my thing. I love the pictures though.

    • Sometimes it’s ok to live vicariously if it’s not your thing :)

  11. Amazing! It’s pretty much the last thing I feel like I would do, too damn scared but you never know. One thing I always wonder is how you can breathe with the wind hitting you so much? I’ve climbed mountains where its so windy at the top you have to bury your face in something in order to breathe, I figure skydiving would be like that but even worse. True??

    • Breathing is definitely a little difficult :D The wind hits your face so hard for the whole freefall that it’s a little hard to breathe, and because you’re up so high there’s less oxygen in the air, though you descend so quickly that it’s not an issue which lasts very long.

I was just focusing on taking really huge breathes through my nose the whole time I was in the air :) Very cold air though!

  12. Amazing! I watched the film thinking how scared I would be doing something like that :D
I used to dream about skydiving, but then something changed and when I was finally able to afford it I decided I’m to scared.
I might try one day, but for now I’m just jealous of other people doing that :D

    • Living vicariously isn’t necessarily a bad thing in some instances – you don’t want to push yourself to do something you don’t want to do. Though stepping out of your comfort zone is often the most amazing feeling. I was terrified on my first jump too, and I forced myself to put the fear out of my mind and literally just not think about it until I was in the air.

I promise it’s the best thing you’ll ever do … the adrenalin literally lasts for weeks, and you feel very safe because you’re strapped very tightly to a professional who does this every day and knows what to do :)

  13. I’m so scared to skydive! Next year is my 40th and I have this vision that I want to do something new every month of the year.. After reading about this, I was wondering if I should put this on my list… eek!!

    • You should absolutely put it on your list! You’ll love it, it’s such a unique and truly thrilling experience. Yes, a little terrifying at times, though I keep in mind that I’m perfectly safe, because I’m strapped to an instructor who does this for a living, and that people do this every day. That’s what generally helps me with the mindset to get through the fear :)

  14. That looks so much fun but I do have to ask, how the heck do you manage to take a smiling selfie on the way down?

    • Lol well the GoPro is strapped to his wrist and is in burst mode, so they take like a million photos and then choose the best ones for you on a USB to take home :)

  15. Skydiving over Sydney really looks like great fun! I just wonder how my stomach will react to that though…not ready to jump out of the plane…due to my fear of heights…but slowly working on it. I did some Jungle surfing and tree tops in Queensland. Now the next step I think I have to start with some indoor skydiving to get familiar with the real thing, a free-fall of 14thousands feet. :-) Congrats!

    • Indoor skydiving is a great idea if you’re taking small steps to getting used to the idea of an actual jump. I found that your stomach drops for the first few seconds as it would on an amusement park ride, though you very quickly become used to the sensation and you then regain your composure.

Also because you’re so high it’s really quite hard to gauge distance, so even with a fear of heights, it’s not too bad, because you have time to get used to the feeling of free-fall, and you’re so captivated by the scenery in front of you that you don’t actually look down. You’re also strapped pretty tightly to your tandem instructor too which goes a long way to helping with the fear – you feel a lot safer knowing that you’re in the hands of a professional :)

Hope you have a great time with the indoor skydive!

  16. ahhh I so wish I was in Australia right now! I would absolutely sign up! It sounds terrifying but at the same time I know it is probably as thrilling as you said.

    • Do pass it onto any friends you may have who are here though! Both terrifying and thrilling at the same time. I think it’s the very fact that it is terrifying which gives so much of the thrill!

  17. That looks thrilling! You looked like you were having a lot of fun in the video.

    • It was the most fun!!

  18. Awesome video! This looks like a (literally) breath-taking and exciting experience in Sydney that one can’t get from any other type of sight-seeing!

    • Thanks Mary! You really can’t get another view over Sydney like it when it comes to the best sight seeing :D!
