  3. Hi Megan, I’m glad to hear that more and more places accept dogs now. I remember 15 years ago, it was pretty difficult to find a dog friendly hotel. We had to take our dog to a “hotel for dogs”, which looked almost like a dog pound.. and he was always very sad when you left.

    Thanks for sharing!
    Miguel.

    • Hi Miguel, yes it seems to be quite accepted now that people enjoy traveling with their pets, especially as people are now spending more and more money on their fury friends. I think hotels have realized this is a market they can certainly cash in on, by offering optional extras aimed at pets, and having friendly facilities.

I’m glad to see the range of options improving!

  4. Cornwall and Yorkshire look like fantastic place to explore generally, and the fact that they welcome the furry friends makes them even better. My mother-in-law almost always travels with her dog, and she can sometimes be frustrated by her options. I am surprised that London had so many of them. I assumed that they would be one place that wasn’t as welcoming. Thanks for the tips! Pinned!

    • Absolutely Patricia, Cornwall and Yorkshire are great, and there’s a real culture of pets here, that travelers with theirs fit right in :)

Cities can definitely be the most frustrating part of traveling with a pet, but London certainly seems to be leading the way. Which is quite surprising as it has a bit of a reputation for a stiff upper lip. But they love their dogs, what can I say!

  5. I’ve been thinking about traveling to the UK with my dog. Now I know where to go! Thanks for sharing =)

    • It’s so hard to leave your pet behind! Especially when you’re so frequently on the road. So it’s nice to see accommodation providers recognizing that, and increasing their range of pet friendly options.

Isn’t the doggie bento set the best!

  8. I feel like Europe must be the most pet-friendly continent on the planet- they really seem to cater to the four-legged variety! I wish places in North America were as accepting.

    • They really do! Hopefully N America and the rest of the world will pick up on the queue!

  9. Like you I am an Aussie. Owner of a gorgeous husky (that photo won me over!). Read this article and am now fantasising about those amazing places people can visit with their pooches. I probably wont get there with Harley though ;)

    • Aren’t Huskies the most beautiful dogs! The UK is definitely a long way to travel from Aus, but there are a lot of spots throughout Asia which might be closer to home. • Absolutely, I’m so pleased to see that the travel industry is making it easier on travelers who wish to travel with their pets :) It’s a huge market, so was bound to pick up as a trend!

  11. England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland or all on my to go to list. I’ve been to London but there is so much more to explore in England so it stays on my to go to list. For some reason when I dream about the beautiful shades of green, cliffs and beaches there always seems to be a dog in the picture running. It seems like it naturally makes since. All the choices in this post seem fantastic

    • It does seem like it makes sense right! The UK has such beautiful, dramatic landscapes, perfect for exploring with pets :) Hope you have the chance to spend some extended time in the UK and take in more of the countryside soon :)

  12. It is heartening to note that more and more hotels are becoming Dog Friendly. It is is painful to leave your dog at home when you are on holiday, just because the place where you are staying do not accept them. Glad to know that there are so many places in the UK where one can enjoy a holiday with your four legged friend.

    • Absolutely – I can only see more and more hotels adopting pet friendly policies and amenities now that it is becoming such a big trend :) Good news for pet owners!

  13. Hi Megan, thanks for sharing. Dealing with pet care before a holiday is one of those hassles we can do without. So it’s great to read about the pet friendly hotels.
