These days, there’s absolutely no reason you should ever find yourself without power, electricity, or battery charge. Not even when the power goes out!

Not when you’re camping in the wilderness, not when you’re driving through remote places, and not even in a natural disaster.

Why?

Because today we have portable power stations and solar generators that allow us to charge our electronics regardless of whether you’re outdoors, far away from a wall outlet, or caught in a power outage.

One of the highest capacity and longest lasting portable power stations with a solar recharge is the MAXOAK Bluetti AC100; a 1,000 watt hour battery with a load capacity of 600 watts, and a built in Sine Wave converter which means you can use AC power.

If you want a high capacity portable solar generator, this is the one you want! It means you’ll never be without power or battery charge (product ships to USA only).

MAXOAK Bluetti AC100 Portable Power Station Review

A High Capacity Solar Generator

AC100 by MAXOAK

We recently reviewed the MAXOAK Bluetti AC20, which is a more lightweight portable solar generator for backup / emergency power. But the AC100 is next level.

The MAXOAK Bluetti AC100 is a high capacity solar generator, with 1,000 Watt-Hour (WH) of emergency battery, and a load capacity of 600 watts. What this means is that you can charge any device under 600 Watts, like a mini fridge, a TV, a drone, car fridge, laptop, lights, or a phone.

It has a built in pure sine wave converter which means you can safely use AC power, and plug your electronics directly into the generator using a normal AC outlet. Without needing a wall!

This is an amazing alternative to a gas generator for powering devices in places where you don’t have access to AC power. There’s no gas engine making noise, and being portable, this means there’s no need for extension cords.

No Small Battery

AC100 by MAXOAK

This is no small battery. Size wise it is 15.3*7.2*12.5 inches, and weighs 34.4 lbs (15.6 kg), though this is to be expected with any large battery of this size and capacity.

While heavy, it’s still portable enough to pick up and move freely around with (and comes with a carry bag), and the benefit from this battery as opposed to lighter weight power banks is its huge power for indoor and outdoor use.

In terms of the expected life cycle of the battery, MAXOAK use automobile-level 3C high rate battery cells that are rated for over 2,000 cycles. This means it has a much longer life cycle to similar power banks of this size – most of their competitors are only rated at 500 cycles.

In terms of quality of the battery, there is a built in battery management system (BMS) with overcharge, overcurrent, overtemperature, overvoltage, overheating and other protection, which means it will do none of the above!

Connections and Charging

AC100 by MAXOAK

For power connections, there are two 110 – 120 volt AC outlets on the back of the generator, and 4 USB connections which can output 5 volts at 3 amps on the front.

Also on the front is a PD 2.0 USB Type C connection, capable of outputting 45 wats. There’s also an external interface connection as well as a standard DC 12 volt cigarette lighter port. This means you can recharge multiple devices at the same time.

You can recharge the unit itself via a direct wall outlet, or using solar panels. Depending on the output from your solar panels, the time to charge will vary, but when plugged into a wall outlet, the total charge time (from zero – 100%) is 10 – 11 hours.

Solar panels themselves are not included, but it does come with solar charging cable, as well as the following:

What it comes with

➤ Portable Power Storage (AC100)

➤ 100W AC Wall Charger

➤ PV Solar Charging Cable (DC7909 to MC4

➤ Cigarette lighter cable

➤ Carry Bag

➤ User Manual

➤ Warranty Card

➤ Certificate of Qualification

Build & Other Features

When you’re buying from MAXOAK you know that you’re guaranteed quality – their units are sturdy and solid, and the fit and finish on the AC100 is of much higher quality than other products on the market.

As with other MAXOAK products, the unit has been designed to be totally silent – there’s no fan, so no noise – which is perfect if you’re using it at night. And being that they use an aluminium shell (as opposed to plastic), it has excellent heat dissipation, and never gets hot.

A really great feature of this battery bank over others is the built in light on the rear of the unit. It’s not bright enough to use as a portable torch or flashlight, but it does make plugging in cords in the dark a lot easier.

The front LCD screen is bright and easy to see, and allows you to monitor the remaining battery capacity, charging, discharge, abnormal status, or any error codes.

  1. If AC outlet is unavailable, you can use a compatible solar panel to recharge the power station(AC100), provide a continuous power outdoor. Note: DC to MC4 charging cable is included. solar panel is not included.

    • Yes, that’s exactly correct :)

  2. Pick me! I would love to win!

    • Good luck in their giveaway! It’s an epic prize isn’t it!!

  3. OMG, we need this battery. Hubby is converting a Sprinter Van into a camper van and this would charge our electronics. I’ve entered. :)

    • This sounds perfect for your van Deb! Good luck in the giveaway! Thanks for reading :)

  4. Fine Print: 2000 Charge Cycles to 50%. (Other vendors rate their charge cycles to 80%). For Bluetti, they rate their charge cycles to 80% around 1200. (Still better than the 500 for other vendors)

    • Thanks for clarifying JAS :)
