  1. I visited Jaipur when I was very young and haven’t been since. But I so want to visit Hawa Mahal and Amer Fort, I’m a fan of lovely architecture and I am sure I will end up taking hundreds of pictures of those two! I’d also love to stay in a Heritage Resort like Chokidhani. Thanks for sharing this list, will keep it handy when I plan a visit.

    • Hope you have the chance to head back at some stage – I love re-visiting destinations I traveled to as a child, and noting the difference as an adult.

If you’re an architecture fan you’ll just fall in love with Jaipur – so many incredible buildings, temples and palaces – it’s a dream!

  2. Great list of lovely places to visit in Jaipur! The Hawa Mahal and the Amer Fort sound like a great place to check out. I’m not much of fan of nightlife, but if the music is good and the food is great, maybe I can give a try, though. ;) A ride on a hot air balloon will also be spectacular just to see Jaipur from above… :)

    • Thanks Marvi! Glad you enjoyed Anirudh’s post. Never know until you try right, so if you’re not a huge fan of nightlife, you could give it a go one night, and if it’s not your scene maybe focus on amazing things to do during the day – + it’s probably best to get an early nights sleep before a sunrise balloon ride anyway :D!

  3. What an amazing list of places to visit. I work with several Indian people who are always telling me about their country and after seeing this maybe I should check it out for myself.

    • Highly recommend putting India at the top of your bucketlist Lyn :) It’s such an incredible and memorable destination.

  4. Jaipur looks amazing! i hope i can visit india someday…looks like such a unique country.

    • One of the most intoxicating cities in India – hope you have the chance to travel soon!

  5. The Hawa Mahal is beautiful! Too bad it was built to hide women. I agree with you about not visiting places on elephant back, I wish everyone had the same attitude. The resort room looks like it’s in a palace and I can’t tell you how hungry the food photo made me. Yum.

    • Isn’t it stunning! Unlike any type of architecture I’ve ever seen. But yes, sad that the purpose of the stunning windows was to hide women.

Glad we’re of the same mindset re riding elephants – they’re such a beautiful animal, and don’t deserve to be enslaved by the human race. It’s one of those things – Indian elephants are loved, revered, groomed and given a prestigious place in the state’s culture, but sadly behind all of that, many of them suffer quite brutal treatment, and if we can stop the profitability of elephants for tourism, hopefully this may change.

  6. So my family is from Jaipur and I was born there. Rajasthan is indeed a magical place. I have been to all the sights mentioned here. And this is the fun of reading travel blogs. Found more about nightlife and drinking holes that I haven’t visited. Difficult to do on my next family trip, but will keep in mind ;-)

    • What a fantastic region to grow up in Shweta! Though I agree, I do find that it’s difficult to experience the nightlife when you head home on a trip visiting family.

So many incredible things to do as a family during the day though!

  7. It was my first time to encounter “The Pink City” and the architecture was really stunning.
The Chokhi Dhani Resort where you stayed seemed and feels like a royalty as well. It was really well decorated indeed.
The kite festival could have really be one of the highlights in Pink City making it more and really colorful though <3
Your essential travel info guide could really be of aid. Noted with the perfect months to visit it as well.

    • Glad we could introduce you to Jaipur through Anirudh’s post! Yes, the architecture is absolutely stunning, some of the most intricate and unique in the world.

Hope you have the chance to visit in the future, and perhaps combine the kite festival with a stay at The Chokhi Dhani Resort. Glad the post was helpful and informative for you!

  8. What an incredible city Jaipur is. I have never seen a building look so beautiful in that shade of pink. Wow. I would love to arrive at Amer Fort on elephant-back…that would be friggin awesome but it’s unfortunate that there are reports of abuse. I’m definately not down with any animal abuse. Instead I would hang out in the markets and eat my favourite Indian dishes. The hot air balloon also sounds like it would be fun having taken one in Cappadocia, Turkey

    • It does sound like a romantic experience, approaching a centuries old fort on elephant back. But yes, sadly there’s often such a nasty side to elephant tourism, and the poor animals are victims of abuse because tourism is so profitable.

The markets and the food scene would make for a fabulous trip though – and hot air ballooning too. I’m dying to take a balloon ride over Cappadocia – would have been such an experience for you!!

  9. I pass through Jaipur all the time, in order to reach other lesser known parts of Rajasthan due to my natural attraction for offbeat places. But to be honest, a lot remains to be seen in Jaipur itself. One place that I would add to the list is Jantar Mantar, a 300 year old astronomical observatory.

Flying over the city on a hot air balloon definitely seems like a great idea and a very good way to get great photos. And yes, food is always great in Rajasthan!

    • Thanks for the tip on Jantar Mantar, will have to check that out, sounds fascinating!

What an incredible opportunity to be passing through all the time!

  10. I have always wanted to visit the Pink City of India. Can not miss the Rajasthani Thali and the Hawa Mahal. I heard Bikaner is a cool place to visit as well.

    • Hope you have the chance to travel soon! Thanks for the tip on Bikaner – will have to do some research :)

  11. I wish you had photos of the hot air balloons! The rest of your photos look amazing! And I’m glad you mentioned that there’s an option to ride an elephant in Amer Fort and noted the concerns about their condition.

    • I’m told they offer incredible views! Will update the post if I find a photo from someone :)

Glad to hear you’re also about ethical tourism re elephant rides – it’s so heartbreaking to hear about abuse, and even more-so to know that the profits of tourism being a reason behind that.

  12. I loved Jaipur too! It was so beautiful with its palace on the lake and the monkey temple in the mountain.

    • So glad you had a fabulous time Juliette! Definitely an unforgettable destination :)

  13. Jaipur is a very eye pleasing place. Jantar Mantar, Amer Kila, Jal mahal…. never ending list of beautiful places of Jaipur. I love the mouth watering daal baati. I am proud being a Rajasthani. I must say very nice blog.

    • Absolutely, it’s magic in every sense of the word! So glad you enjoyed the post :)
