One of my biggest pieces of advice for booking a hotel has always been to ask yourself why. And the answer should be beyond the obvious “I need a place to stay for the night”.

Because millions of people are booking into hotels every night. But how many of them are actually getting their choice right?

For instance, you’ve researched an amazing place for a couples getaway, but realized on check-in that it’s popular among families, and a very noisy resort. Or you’ve booked a dull business hotel, when you were looking for colorful nightlife.

It happens more often than you might think, despite having amazing resources and insight which allows us to research these things.

How to Book Hotels That Match Your Travel Style Perfectly

Spoiler Alert: We’ve discovered a new hotel search engine which has 1.2 million hotels at rates cheaper than any other online booking site (seriously). And, by crunching data about your interests, it matches you with hotels which reflect your travel style.

Nustay.com.

The Importance of the Right Hotel

It’s not good enough to book the right hotel anymore – if you want a memorable vacation you need to book the right hotel for you.

You need to know who is leaving a glowing review (are they a business traveler, couple, backpacker, family etc), and what the hotel is excellent for. You need to answer why you’re traveling, identify your interests, and ask why a hotel has been given a rave review.

At this stage I can hear you thinking “crap. That’s a lot more research for me to do”. Because in the long list of hotel search engines out there, not one of them asks you about your interests, and crunches big data to find the perfect hotel for you.

Though I stand corrected on that statement, because that, in a nutshell, is Nustay; a new hotel booking engine which matches search results to your travel preferences … and it doesn’t hurt that they offer the cheapest prices on more than 1.2 million hotels too!

Nustay.com: How it Works

Nustay.com promises unbelieveable discounts on your dream vacation, and the best hotel experience of your life. A bold claim, but they don’t lie.

From first impressions, the platform is like any other hotel booking site. It’s a search engine which operates in the same way you’re used to, except that the results are personalized to match your interests and travel style. And except for it’s prices. It offers some of the best hotel rates I’ve seen in a long time.

With over 1.2 million resorts and hotels available to choose from, Nustay is one of the largest hotel search engines online, and they offer discounts of up to 72% on market price.

Wondering why you haven’t heard of it? It’s fairly new. But with a unique twist on a very well established market, I dare say you’ll soon be using Nustay over your other bookmarked sites.

Nustay.com review

A membership website, you’ll be prompted to sign up for an account (it’s free). After having registered, you can link your social media profiles, fill in your interests, and rate what’s important to you in a hotel room. This strengthens your profile, and is data used to find you the best hotel.

You enter your location, your travel dates, the number of rooms you’re after, and hit search. You’ll get search results based on what’s important to you, with options to filter based on your type of vacation, ie romantic, party, family, or a wellness retreat. The more of a match you are with a hotel, the higher the discount you receive.

Too Good to Be True?

Let’s be honest, it’s a claim that most hotel search engines make, so when we hear that a hotel search engine claims to offer better prices than other third party booking sites, I’m skeptical.

It would take a fresh and creative approach to the established business model to be able to offer big enough savings and incentives to pull people away from their already bookmarked sites.

But using big data, advanced algorithms and data from social media to match travelers with hotels according to their preferences, Nustay has a unique twist on a very well-established market. By personalizing the current way we book hotels, I can see it disrupting the hotel industry as we know it today.

And, after having extensively compared their prices, they really do offer the lowest hotel rates.

Example

Applying the Same Search for Hilton London Kensington, Feb 4 2018

 Nustay.com: $113 USD

 Booking.com: $168 USD

 Agoda: $167 USD

Expedia: $140 USD

 Trivago: $138 USD

Why Their Prices are so Amazing

For travelers, the advantage of Nustay hotels is obvious; as a hotel guest, why wouldn’t you want to find the perfect hotel at the best price?

But hotels are benefiting too; by providing guests that are most likely to enjoy the facilities and style the hotel offers, Nustay is able to bring hotels guests that spend more time in the resorts and enjoy the services that they offer. Leading to a better experience for everyone involved.

Thus Nustay have been able to secure the planet’s lowest prices simply because of their ability to tell if guests and hotels match. And this makes it something truly unique to the market.

Tips for Using Nustay.com

➡ You need to register here and be logged in to see the discounted rates (membership is free). You can still use the site and run searches as a non member, but you’ll only see the price once you log in (sign up with your email, Facebook, or Linkedin).

➡ Once you create an account, link your social media profiles, and fill in your interests and user information. The whole premise of Nutsay is to find you the perfect hotel, and you receive higher discounts on the hotels you’re a good match with.

➡ The rates are automatically displayed in Euros. Click the button at the top of the site which says EUR to change the currency.

➡ Nustay rates include all taxes and fees. It’s important to remember this when checking prices against other websites.

➡ It’s worth noting that bookings made through the site are not eligible for hotel reward or club programs.

➡ Deals only last for 25 minutes. This is because their algorithm is constantly crunching data, and their rates are offered based on the most up to date information. You’ll see a countdown timer on each of your search results. Once an offer has expired you’ll need to run a fresh search.

➡ On the final payment screen, make note of the cancellation policy. Some hotels allow free cancellation until a certain date, though most bookings are non refundable. If you do need assistance, they have great customer support, and are very responsive to queries via social media.

  1. I’ve never heard of Nustay – sounds like a great way to save money on hotels. I’m going to check it out. Thanks for the recommendation!

    • Glad we could introduce you Sue :) Hope you find some fabulous deals!

  2. Um. They want your social media to sell your information. You ARE paying for that lower hotel stay in myriads of ways.
Just making sure your choice is fully-formed.

    • Hi Roy, thanks for voicing your concerns. I’ve read their privacy policy, and selling your information is not part of their business model. They have a really comprehensive page which details exactly how they use your information, and who they give it to here if you want to read more: https://nustay.com/Privacy

Other than if it is required by law (ie if they receive a subpoena etc) you’ll be notified when personal information about you will be shared with third parties, and will have an opportunity to say no.

Let me know if you have any other concerns I can help with :)

    • Greetings Roy,

      Thanks for you comment.

Just to make it clear, we do not sell our members social media information. You can read through our privacy policy here – https://nustay.com/Privacy.

After a member signs up on Nustay.com, we gain acces to a limited amount of information from their social media accounts. This information is used only to match our members to our hotels – the higher the match, the higher the discount. This is what makes Nustay.com unique, and the reason we have better prices than all other booking platforms.

If you have any further comments, feel free to reply here or send me an e-mail at mn@nustay.com.

      Kind Regards,

  3. Such a awesome article. every point shows how much research you have done in this topic from “The Importance of the Right Hotel
” to “Why Their Prices are so Amazing”. Thank You for the list too.

    • Glad it was helpful Peter! We try to provide as much information as possible so you know whether it’s for you. Can highly recommend running a search when you go to go to book a hotel next :)

  4. Thanx Meg,

Think I’ll be using these for my next bookings :)

    • You’re welcome – enjoy the amazing discounts!

  5. I’ve never heard of Nustay but anything that saves me money, so I have more of it for travel, I’m all for it. Your article was very convincing on all the reasons to use Nustay, so I’m going to have to give it a shot the next time I’m booking. Thanks for all the info :)

    • Glad we could introduce you Heidi – and that’s it, every little bit counts, and the money you save on hotels can go towards experiences which is what travel is all about!

Hope you find some amazing discounts!

  6. Wow, it does sound amazing that they have prices MUCH lower than booking.com. I usually use booking.com for hotels in Europe and agoda.com for hotels in Asia and I would love to try Nustay for comparing the prices on my next trip. Thanks for introducing this new website, I will surely let you know how my experience with it goes Megan.

    • Yes they do! We usually use Booking.com too, and I was quite astounded when I did a couple of comparisons on Nustay – very, very cheap!

Do let us know how your experience goes booking through the platform :)

  7. Wow–that price difference is impressive! I had never heard of Nustay before, but it looks like a tool definitely worth trying out. Everyone definitely has different priorities in a hotel–for us, it’s wifi and location!

    • Isn’t it! Glad we could introduce you to Nustay – definitely one to check out. Yes, it’s usually so difficult trying to comb through hotel search results to find one which meets your preferences, but Nustay does that for you.

Wifi and location are probably #1 and #2 for me too :)

  8. 72%? Wow, that is insane. Let me first go and sign up. It is kind of revolutionary what they are doing. Keeping both hotels and guests while crunching numbers. I never knew that even hotels have a preference for the kind of guests they want at their properties. Hopefully, it is here to stay and remains the same.

    • It is isn’t it! I genuinely believe they’ll disrupt the industry with this innovative approach. And it’s a win/ win for everybody! Hotels definitely have a preference for the type of guests who stay with them – at the end of the day if the guest perfectly suits the hotel, they spend more money and have a more enjoyable experience.

I think it’s safe to say that Nustay is not just the flavor of the month; definitely here to stay!

  9. Never heard of nustay. It’s good to know that they have got the search filtered for our preference . Though I did not know for sure I kind of assumed the hostels will have preference on their customers . For any service industry it makes total sense .. good to know ! It’s a very informative post ..thank you !

    • Glad we could introduce you :) Yes, hotels definitely have a preferred type of guest which they aim for and market to. So Nustay coming along and providing a solution for both hotels and travelers is quite the win/win!

  10. What a great idea. I wonder if they pass the data on to the hotels to allow them to tailor your stay. Wouldn’t that be cool? That is a pretty serious saving too

    • They don’t share your data with third parties unless they have your express permission, but if you have special requests you can always call the hotel ahead of your stay or make notes on your booking when you make your reservation :)

      The savings are great!

  11. Nustay sounds amazingly smart like love matching but with a human and a hotel! It does suck when you have paid expensive for a night in a hotel and the hotel has nothing in common with you. How great isnt it to pay less for a room the more you match the hotel! Thank you Meg from introducing Nustay to us!

    • Yes absolutely! The perfect matchmaking service for the travel industry :D

So glad I could introduce you – I’ve stayed at the wrong hotel so many times in the past, so having access to Nustay is dream come true.

  12. Booking.com is SUPER CHEAP!!
Prices cheaper than Booking.com and I’m totally in. Traveling next month to New Zealand and plan to book hotels on NuStay. Fingers crossed I can get as good deals as you mentioned above. Thanks for sharing :)

    • I know right!! Booking.com has been my go to up until this point too, because they always had the cheapest prices. But there’s always room for a new brand to swoop in!

Hope you have an amazing time in NZ, and find some fabulously discounted hotels using Nustay. We’re actually on a cruise on route to NZ now – small world!

  13. I had never heard about Nustay.com before I read your article. Most of by hotels are booked through either Booking.com or Agoda. This website was unheard of. And you are right, their promise of unbelievable discounts on your dream vacation does seem too good to be true. But I am definitely going to look at it.

    • Glad we could introduce you :) Yes, it’s a relatively new website, but has crashed onto the scene quite spectacularly! I pulled up every other hotel booking / comparison website I could think of to compare rates, and Nustay came out on top everytime. They’ve done a brilliant job of redefining the approach booking platforms use – hope you find some amazing deals!

  14. Such an awesome article. Thanks for sharing this article… ?

    • You’re welcome – glad it was helpful for you :)

  15. It is the best idea. If i will schedule the upcoming journey, i will try it.

    • Glad we could introduce you to Nustay for your next trip. You should be able to find some great discounts :)

  16. Is Nustay actually growing? I’m not the 1st one here who hasn’t heard about this website. In the UK, most people use booking.com or hotels.com
I have checked 3 hotels and booking was the cheapest.

    • I only had bad experiences with Booking.com. They dont include taxes in their price, so there can be very nasty surprises when arriving to the hotels!

I normally use hotels.com because they include taxes but I can see Nustay.com also includes taxes so I will give them a try next time :)

    • @darekandgosia Booking.com is fairly mainstream across the world (do make sure you’ve factored in hidden costs like taxes though when comparing between platforms for the cheapest price). Nustay is still growing, and I think it’ll be nice to see some competition in what’s become such a monopolized space :)

@Kirsten sorry to hear you’ve had bad experiences with Booking.com – yes they have quite a number of hidden costs involved with their process unfortunately, and usually include urgency tactics to convince people to book now (like false claims that there’s only one room left, or the discount they’re showing you will only last for another hour). Nustay has been a great alternative :)

  17. Nustay are not beneficial for hotels at all. They continue to show prices cheaper than anywhere else even on hotels that do not provide rates directly. This leads booking.com and Expedia to punish those hotels for showing cheaper rates with other sites even though it isn’t their fault.

Then if the hotel asks Nustay to stop it they just ignore them

    • In this situation I would identify the problem to be Booking.com and Expedia as opposed to Nustay. It’s unfortunate when large corporations who have monopolized an industry take the tact to bully their competitors out of the market.

Really, I don’t think it’s Nustay’s fault if Booking.com and Expedia have decided to take aggressive action to hold onto their monopoly of the travel market; this massively stifles innovation, and competition, and people need to stand up to them if they’re using their buying power to bully individual hotels because someone else has come up with an innovative new approach that threatens their dominance of the market.
