Whether you’re traveling for the weekend, or heading away with your partner on a month long adventure, travel can be the perfect opportunity to revive your relationship and create unforgettable memories.

Sometimes people let routine and stress take over their lives, but it’s important to break away from all that and cherish your loved one.

As this is the time to enjoy yourselves, why not splurge on a luxurious honeymoon suite and make the most of a couple’s massage session? You could have a romantic meal at a fancy restaurant or just watch the sun go down, taking pleasure in each other’s company.

The following are 5 ideas guaranteed to make your next couples getaway a romantic one.

How to Make Your Next Couples Getaway a Romantic One

Watch the Sunset Together

There’s nothing like watching the sunset together with a glass of your favorite wine in hand. As the sun goes down, painting the sky with shades of orange and pink, you hold your partner’s hand and wish that moment would never end.

Whether you’re staying at the beach or up in the mountains, watching the sunset can be a great way to create a romantic experience that you’ll remember for years to come.

Indulge in a Spa Treatment

A couple’s getaway is the ideal opportunity to take care of your bodies and minds in a relaxing setting.

You could book a treatment for the evening, so when you get back to the hotel after a day of exploration, you can pamper yourselves with a soothing massage.

Just remember to ask if the spa has any essential oils to boost your libido, so you can set the right mood for later.

Stay in a Honeymoon Suite

Venetian Boscolo Hotel

Don’t forget that many Caribbean hotels have special honeymoon suites, where you can have a fairytale experience.

It doesn’t matter whether you’re already married or haven’t been together for long; a luxurious room can be the perfect love nest in a romantic getaway.

Make sure you spend one day just laying around in the room, ordering room service, and making the most of your private hot tub. You may need a “do not disturb” sign on your door!

Go out for a Fancy Meal

Going out for a meal at a fancy restaurant is a great chance for you to be your perfect selves. But if you plan this, remember to pack smart clothes and sexy dresses, so you can fall in love with each other once again.

Pick a place with a great view and, if possible, call in advance to ensure they can prepare a candlelit dinner for you.

Capture Your Moments With a Difference

Although it’s important to have your cameras and smartphones around to take incredible pictures, why not try something different?

Depending on where you are, you can find a vintage photo booth and take silly pics, or have a sketch artist make a drawing and frame it afterward.

When you find the time to go on a trip as a couple, going the extra mile to make it more meaningful is definitely worth it. Instead of just visiting a new destination, you can create an unforgettable romantic getaway and come back home feeling like a high school first love.

  1. Watching sunrises and sunsets is about the most romantic practice Meg. Gotta love seeing the sun on its daily journey. Super list here.

    • Totally agree Ryan! My favorite time of day :) So glad you enjoyed the post.

  2. I don’t know. I think a wonderful meal at home- for just the two of you (which may mean sending the kids out for overnights) works perfectly well. (OK, I can cook an excellent meal. If you can’t- i see the issue….) And, then, after the dinner…

    • I agree, there’s definitely something to be said about a romantic night snuggled up on the couch at home sometimes :) Personally I’m not the greatest cook lol but my husband can, and I tell him often that’s why I married him :D

  3. You can never beat a good sunset. Always romantic.

    • Totally agree Doretha! A good sunset is always a romantic opportunity :)

  4. It’s always so special to go out for a fancy meal and get dressed up like you would if you were trying to impress the other person on a first date. We try and do this at least once every time we go away :)

    • Totally agree with you Mitzi – definitely brings back that same sense of excitement as when you first started dating :D!

  5. I’ll let you in on a little hack I’ve developed -when I make a hotel reservation I always put in the notes that we’re traveling for our anniversary (even f we’re not!!). It’s incredible, it doesn’t always happen, but a lot of the time you’ll rock up to the hotel and they’ll have upgraded you to a fancy suite, rose petals on the bed, complimentary chocolate and cake. Go with anniversary though and not birthday, as you have to present your ID on checkin and they’ll likely see through it straight away (I got this downpat!!)

    • Haha love it :D Thanks for sharing Mike!

  6. One of our biggest tips is putting a ban on our phones while away. We lock them in the hotel safe and check them only at the end of the night before bed in case of any urgent calls or messages. That way we can give each other our undivided attention. Nothing kills the romance more than the other person always being on their phone!

    • Love this Carin. I agree that we’re far too distracted by our devices these days and it can certainly make the other person feel neglected when you’e supposed to be spending time together. I need to get better at leaving the phone alone myself :D

  7. Couples spa. All the way!

    • Can’t beat it :D!

  8. We role play :D Not strictly limited the bedroom, but taking on a new identity and meeting for the ‘first time’ in a bar. Haha we saw it on an episode of Modern Family and it’s great.

    • I saw that Modern Family episode! Lol I don’t know if I would be able to get through with a straight face, but definitely sounds fun!

  9. Do not disturb sign makes for a GREAT romantic getaway ;)

    • ;)

  10. Capturing the moment with a magic mirror booth would be incredibile!

    • I love photo booths – so much fun to run into and get those that print out strips of photos for you. An awesome souvenir to take home from a romantic vacation :)
