Why You Should Visit Indonesia

There are many reasons to travel to Indonesia. A country with over 17,000 islands, 8,000 of which are inhabited, Indonesia is like 100 countries in one.

This a land of great adventure, where dramatic landscapes of beaches and volcanos is the norm, and with a rich diversity of people, customs, cultures, animals, plants, artworks, spectacular temples and food.

The following are five reasons why you should visit Indonesia. You probably won’t make it to all 17,000 islands in one trip, but these destinations are a good place to start!

Traditional Cooking in Ubud

Ubud is a town in central Bali, and well-known as ‘The Center of Art of Culture.’ It is a town made up of small villages which each specialize in their own creative art, and it’s a fantastic place to seek traditional jewelry, oil painting, basket weaving, batik and textiles, and beautiful wood carving.

Travelers should sign up for a cooking class while in Ubud. Drive into the gorgeous rice fields and enjoy the countryside as you prepare and sample authentic Balinese cuisine.

The International Kite Festival in Sanur

One reason to travel to Indonesia is that the country knows how to put on a cultural festival, and the International Kite Festival is one of the most vibrant of the year.

This takes place every year in July, where teams compete with each other with giant traditional Balinese kites. However, those traveling from June through August can see the kites too. Book a cheap hotel in Sanur to catch this event.

Relax on the Beach in Nusa Dua

The main attraction in Nusa Dua is its unique beaches. Pantai Mengiat is a popular choice of beach retreat, and further south is Geger Beach which has a picturesque cliff-top temple. There is also Sawangan where travelers will find Bali’s only camel safaris.

There is plenty of cheap accommodation in Nusa Dua right on the beach, and travelers who choose to stay here can enjoy the beautiful bay for snorkeling and swimming, as well as other natural landmarks along the Nusa Dua peninsula.

Experience a Traditional Fishing Village in Jimbaran

If you traveled to Indonesia in the hopes of exploring a magical fishing village, Jimbaran is the place for you.

Hand-pick your seafood and have it prepared just for you. When it comes to accommodation, there are four-star resorts, though travelers looking for a truly traditional experience can book a wood house in the middle of the forest with spectacular views over Kuta Lombok Bay. There are accommodation options in spades here.

Resort Getaway in Legian

Legian is a beautiful resort getaway on the coasts of southern Bali, and the perfect spot for those traveling to Indonesia for stunning ocean views, exotic animals and plants, and tourist entertainment.

Legian Beach continues north along the coast to meet the famous Kuta Beach, and provides tourists with plenty of opportunity to surf, shop, party, or take leisurely strolls along  restaurant-lined streets.

There is a lot of tourism here, so the competition for accommodation is high. As such there are many cheap hotels in Legian.
