It’s a tough decision every time you go to pack; choosing which pair of shoes to sacrifice and leave in the wardrobe behind. You need your pair of hiking boots, as bulky as they are, and a good pair of sneakers are a must, but then you also have to consider footwear for the beach, something you can wear to dress up and then something to also dress down, perhaps a set of flats, a set of sandals, and, if you’re planning on hitting up the clubs, maybe even a sneaky pair of high heels.

What you end up looking at laid out on the floor are 8 pairs of shoes for one trip. Good luck fitting them all into one bag!

But why should we have to go through the heart wrenching agony to choose?! The answer? You shouldn’t! And this, my dear female traveler, is why every single one of you needs a pair of Slinks. Your packing problems solved without sacrificing your desire to travel with multiple pairs of shoes…because one pair of sandals is never enough!

Slinks are ingenious interchangeable sandals by Jane Rafter. From just one base you have a variety of sandal style options, and while in place the “uppers” appear fixed, these can be changed quickly and easily…imagine new shoes every day!

It’s 3, 4 or 5 sets of sandals in one, giving you shoes for every occasion, and fabulous feet wherever you go. And because you’re only traveling with one base, you’ll have so much more room in your bag to move!

Has your mind been blown?! Their footwear collection has fashionable flip flops, pretty summer sandals, and fantastic flats for comfortable city walks. Perfect for city breaks, beach escapes or summer holidays, and ideal for a capsule sunny wardrobe or dressy occasions like a destination wedding, the brilliance of this concept lies in the ability for multiple different options of shoe, while taking up minimal space in your bag. Wear a beaded sandal one day, and a simple classic leather sandal the next.

Slinks are constantly bringing out new designs and colors so once you have your bases you can just keep adding to your collection. You can choose your base in either a flat or a wedge and add uppers as you please. All the uppers can be worn on both the flat and the wedge bases which is fantastic.

My choice of Slinks? I went with a set of white leather bases with a variation of three different uppers, which came all beautifully packed in a silk bag. The bag has proved to be a fantastic way to organize the uppers and keep everything together in the one place.

I went with three choices of uppers to start, though check in with me again in a month to see how large my collection has grown! The uppers I have now are “Cecilia”, “Lily of the Incas” and “Lady Ellen”; and each comes in a range of different color choices as well meaning you can change your look to suit your mood!

Surprisingly, the Lady Ellen uppers are incredibly comfortable and supportive if you’re planning on taking a walk – normally I would reserve the walking shoe recommendation for sneakers, though as you can see below, they made it through some pretty hilly hikes!

The even better part? It’s a quality shoe! Slinks represent luxury craftsmanship and design down to the last stitch, and every pair of sandals is absolutely beautiful, simplistic and unique.

But now you’re thinking *&^%$ – I leave on my holiday tomorrow, and you’re only just telling me about Slinks now?!

Yes, they ship all over the world, and yes, if you send them an email they’ll organize next day delivery if possible and sort it all out!

  1. So in love with these. I want one!

    • I recommend them highly – I’m so in love with mine!! I can even carry them (the uppers) in my purse they’re so lightweight!

    • Yes indeed! It’s a UK based company and prices are in pounds, though they deliver all over the world. One of my friends is in Thailand atm and she got them sent to her in Chiang Mai :)

  2. These look fantastic Megan! Are they comfortable for walking around in?

    • They are indeed! They’re flats, so they’re super comfy. In terms of walking long distances I would specifically recommend the Lady Ellen uppers – though the extra strap at the top is surely just decorative for the gladiator look, I found for some reason it’s designed in a way which gives you a tonne of support so I’ve been wearing them for full days on this current trip :)

  3. WANT! So funny, I’ve been looking for shoes that I can a) wear to a wedding in Ireland and b)can wear for other things without killing my feet and over stuffing my backpack. This might be the answer!thanks!

    • These are literally perfect then – ticks all three of your boxes! You could even throw them in your purse if you don’t have the room in your pack – they’re that small!

  4. Very cool innovative idea! Are they comfortable Megan?

    • They’re super comfortable – they’re flats so very easy on your foot, and then it will depend on the type of upper you get from there. Some uppers wrap around your ankle in a unique way which might take a day of getting used to, some are in a classic sandal style and just tie up around the back and you’re good to go, some have big beautiful bling on the front, buy uppers based on what you’re normally comfortable with wearing and you’ll be golden :)

  5. Gorgeous, but we all want to know, are they comfortable? If so, yes please!

    • SUPER comfortable! They get the Megan tick of approval across all areas of comfort! It’s seriously the most brilliant concept on the planet because it’s an overall amazing shoe. As I mentioned to Nisha, at base value they’re flats, so very comfortable on your foot for walking, and then after that your comfort is going to vary depending on the upper and what you’re used to.

Go for styles that you’re normally used to wearing and you’ll be set – though I tried a few different styles and loved the feel of each and every one :)

  6. Oh I love those!
And you could just put them in a purse also if needed!
The problem I have is that my feet are ultra sensitive and always get hurt… are the straps on the top soft? I might have to try, might be the solution to all my problems!

    • Absolutely – they’re so slim and lightweight they do actually fit in my purse :)

The straps all vary depending on the type of upper you’re getting – because they’re all so different in terms of style and design. The three uppers I got have pretty firm straps; I would shoot them an email and ask the question as to which they would recommend for softer straps :) Hope there’s something there for you!

  7. Please come up with a model that doesn’t have a slide-between-the-toes thingy! So many people can’t wear those….it’s a genius idea otherwise.

    • Thanks for the feedback V – I’ll let you know if I come across something like that :)

    • I’ve been stalking your Africa photos on facebook and loving them! Glad you’re loving your Slinks too!

  8. These are such a great idea that I can’t believe they’ve not been done before! Perfect for someone as indecisive as I am!

    • Absolutely! This way we don’t have to choose! And I know right – something like this comes along and you’re thinking “why didn’t anyone think of this before”!! Completely revolutionizes the way we’re able to travel :)

    • Aren’t they! Such a brilliant idea and seriously such cute shoes too!

    • Absolutely! And that’s the main reason I love them so much – they fit in my hand luggage so I’ve now got so much space in my checked bags!

    • Let us know how you go! They’re such a fab concept for a shoe :)

  9. Love the idea. They’re really cute and look comfy. Just wish they had a waterproof option.

    • I’ll let you know if I hear anything about waterproof designs in the future :)
